ANOTHER DECADE OF NORTH SHORE BOARDRIDERS CLUB HISTORY TO SAVOUR

Following the Sunshine Coast’s North Shore Boardriders 1970s history Should Have Been Here Yesterday released in 2012, comes their story of the 80s surfing world, Yesterday is Gone - The Revolution is Here. The 80s was the decade when surfing exploded around the world, becoming not just a pastime but an emerging professional sport.

Wherever you were in the world just being a surfer in the 80s was very different than the 70s. Boards, clothing, attitudes and surfing itself evolved and changed. Sponsorship, prizemoney, and exotic travel became things to aspire to. The Sunshine Coast was no different but if there was one thing that stayed the same it was the depth of local talent and the pride in North Shore Boardriders. That and having a good time of course.

With over 100 pages of stories, history and 400 photos Yesterday is Gone is a fantastic flashback to the Sunshine Coast surfing world of the 1980s. A collectible coffee table book about the new world of thrusters, sponsorship, team challenges and fluro, about great club wins and narrow losses, the rise of the grommet, Australian and world champs, master shapers, outrageous parties, wild road trips, pioneering women chargers, entrepreneurial surf shop owners, the invention of surfing as a school subject and pumping waves at Wurtulla.

The 70s book has been reprinted after being sold out twice and both books will be available for purchase following the 80s book launch at Alex Surf Club on October 16th 1pm.

Books will also be available to purchase online following the launch at: https://www.northshoreboardriders.com
